Classes are offered on Friday and Saturday. We have a terrific line-up of classes available for you to choose from including intarsia, scrollsawing, band-sawing, painting, woodturning, and embroidery. Pre-registration is recommended, with payment, before July 1

SCHEDULE OF CLASSES/SEMINARS FOR FRIDAY, AUGUST 6
FRIDAY 9:00 to 11:00 NEW METHOD FOR CUTTING INTARSIA:
Cost $9.00, plus $10.00 for materials. Presented by Homer Bishop, from Illinois, who has been cutting intarsia projects for nine years, and designing and selling his own Intarsia patterns for over six years. He has developed a new method of cutting Intarsia patterns that can be used by any scroller to cut an Intarsia project on the first try. (During his class he will have people from the class actually cut and try the new way of cutting). The class covers instructions on the new cutting technique as well as information on how to totally complete the project. Projects that were cut using this technique will be on display, including intricate acrylic projects. All class members will receive patterns and complete instructions for three projects (all new and different from last years) ranging from beginner to more advanced. THIS CLASS IS FULL!!Cost $10.00, plus $10.00 for materials. Presented by Klaus Zunker, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Klaus is a member of the Milwaukee Woodworkers Guild, and has been carving, turning and doing many other forms of woodworking for over 50 years. Class size is limited to 12 people per session. Klaus will explain and demonstrate basic woodturning skills on a mini lathe. Then each participant will choose to make either a pen or keychain/toothpick combo under his skilful supervision. Assorted wood blocks, hardware kits, and sandpaper and friction finishing materials are provided for each participant’s project.FRIDAY 11:00 to 1:00 EASY PAINTING TECHNIQUES:THIS CLASS IS FULL!!! Cost $9.00, plus $8.00 for materials. Class size limited to fifteen people. Presented by Jean Aldous of Magic in Wood from Porter Corners, NY. This class will be about easy painting on wood with acrylic paints. You will receive a pattern packet designed by Sheila Bergner-Landry, www.sheilalandrydesigns.com, which includes the pattern, cutout project, colored picture and detailed instructions. Paint, brushes and finish will also be furnished. Everyone should be able to complete their project to take home when finished.
FRIDAY 11:00 to 1:00 LET’S BE CREATIVE WITH OUR BANDSAWS: Cost $9.00. Presented by Barbara Peters, owner of PS Wood, in Pennsylvania. Barbara will demonstrate a variety of uses for the bandsaw. She will teach you to tune-up your saw, show you how to achieve the best results, and will discuss a variety of blades, fences and guide systems. Most people have been content for many years to use their bandsaws occasionally to cut long gradual curves. With the development of superior quality blades, as small as 1/8", today's bandsaw users are creating some pretty amazing projects. Barbara will be making a project to show you how it's done, and will be demonstrating her fabulous Timber Wolf bandsaw blades. NEW CLASS:
FRIDAY 1:00 to 3:00 COLORING STAINING & REFINISHING: Cost $9.00. Presented by George Cash, owner of the Aqua Coat Company in Madison, Wisconsin. George will demonstrate coloring, staining and refinishing by brushing, spraying, and dip coating with water-based finishes. The demonstrations will be geared specifically to scrollers and will feature the whole gamut of their "Green" environmentally friendly finishes. All of their products are Water-Based and Non-Toxic, Non-Flammable and safe for kid’s furniture, toys, and for contact with foods. George will also demonstrate warp removal and prevention of thin stock warping or curling with the "Wood-Loc" product that they manufacture. The Wood-Loc is a safe, non-flammable, non-toxic wood stabilizer. He will also discuss bending & twisting of the wood, and share many other helpful tips & techniques that will help you achieve the best results with finishes.

Cost $10.00, plus $10.00 for materials. Class size limited to 16 people. Presented by Dirk & Karen Boelman from Platteville, Wisconsin. Whether you are new to scrollsawing, or you just want some help with the basics, this is the class for you. Dirk & Karen will explain and demonstrate a variety of tips & techniques. Then each participant will choose a project to make from start to finish during the class. It’s also the perfect opportunity for Dirk & Karen to address your specific questions and problems, right on the scroll saw. (You are welcome to bring your own scroll saw to this class). Their goal is to do everything they can to help you get started with scrollsawing, and to help you get the most enjoyment possible from this fascinating hobby. Cost $25.00. Class size limited to 10 people. We will be using the embroidery machine to stitch a design on the front of the book cover, and then actually do the construction on a sewing machine. You will leave with a finished piece. All materials and supplies will be provided. Presented by Shar McGlynn of the Thimble and Thread quilt Shop in Richland Center, Wisconsin. Presented by Judy Peterson from Monona, WI. Judy says, "For several years, I've been taking photographs of carousel animals as we travel around the country. I finally started designing and cutting them, and I've run across some snags in the process. So we'll talk about carousels, taking pictures, designing puzzles, and avoiding the snags in the process.
SATURDAY 12:30 TO 2:30 HANDS-ON INTERMEDIATE SCROLLSAWING:
THIS CLASS IS FULL!! Cost $10.00, plus $10.00 for materials. Class size limited to 16 people. Presented by Dirk & Karen Boelman from Platteville, Wisconsin. This is your opportunity to take your scroll saw skills to the next level. Dirk & Karen will explain and demonstrate sawing other materials on the scroll saw, bevel sawing, compound sawing, and segmentation, and share a host of valuable tips & techniques that will help you tackle more complex projects with fewer headaches! Participants will chose to make a project from Plexiglas, corian or thin metal, from start to finish during the class session, and pick another project to take home to complete.
